Heard the forecast for this morning so gathered our gear together last night ready to venture out should the snow arrive! And it did. Took the 4x4 out, along with a flask and packed lunch and set off around Bredon Hill and then on up to the Cotswolds where we hoped there would be even more snow! It was quite evident that the snow was heavier the higher we went, so we eventually got to Stumps Cross and drove along the lanes stopping here and there for photo opportunities. Unfortunately the light was pretty flat, but nevertheless I was quite pleased with my results.
A quick detour to Tewkesbury for a takeout coffee (I know we'd got a flask but that was for emergency use!) we then parked up in an interesting gateway for our lunch, carrying on afterwards to Castlemorton Common, Malvern for more photos. The lake at Golden Valley provided some interesting bird shots, including this one of the six geese, topically called "Six Geese A Laying" as we're still in the festive season!
Really pleased to find on opening the current issue (no 263) of "Outdoor Photography" magazine that one of my photographs has been published in the "One Thing This Month.....Water's Edge". It was taken on the Isle of Harris looking across Luskentyre beach after the tide had gone out. I used my 80-200mm f2.8 Nikon lens to zoom in and create a minimalist shot with a simple colour palette, giving the rock prominence amongst the little blue rivulets of water as they meandered their way back to the sea. Well pleased! I have included this image in my "Moods" gallery as I feel it is quite evocative.
Am pleased to have one of my black and white photographs accepted into this year's Number 8 Open Art Exhibition, which is on from 26th September until 16th October 2019. There are some super exhibits to look at (and maybe purchase!) so go check it out....and grab a coffee while you're there!
Check out my Instagram page (@jaynewinterphotography) for loads of pictures from in and around Scotland. All are available to purchase as prints, if interested please email me for details!
Am delighted to have had two of my very recent photo creations accepted into Number 8's Open Art Exhibition...."Shadow of Spring" and "Trapped in Time". I have managed to source a new wooden moulding in a soft white/ivory frame, which sets them off a treat! The exhibition is currently on until 24th October 2018 and there is some pretty good work on display.
