I was thrilled to find this image was awarded Runner Up in the Landscape Category of the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year 2024 competition. #SLPOTY  'Sunset from Port Appin' (north of Oban) looking across to the mountains on the Morvern peninsula.  I just loved how the silhouettes of the four trees on the left balanced with the break in the clouds on the right, allowing the late evening sun to create such wonderful light.  This has been such a successful image for me

Fellowship - Royal Photographic Society https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2021/5/fellowship---royal-photographic-society I was honoured and absolutely thrilled to be awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society yesterday with a panel of work created during Lockdown. Due to the lockdown restraints limiting the distances that we were allowed to travel, I was determined to try to continue with my photography and embarked upon a project in Tiddesley Wood, an ancient woodland close to my home.

My submission was a collection of 21 prints taken on frosty winter days between November 2020 and February 2021, capturing those quiet, early morning moments when the mists and frost combine to create a timeless atmosphere of solitude and peacefulness.

I loved creating this body of work, and to succeed in achieving my greatest photographic ambition using images of a location that is so local and means so much to me, is just perfect!

The Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2020 - Photographic Competition https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2021/4/the-scottish-nature-photography-awards---photographic-competition I was delighted to find out that one of my images had been shortlisted in the above competition. "The Gate" was selected in The Scottish Landscape - The Land category of the recently announced 2020 competition results.  The photograph was taken a couple of years ago on a very frosty January morning as we were making our way north having had a brief overnight stop in Moffatt, a favourite town for us to break the journey in.  A quick plug for The Queensberry House b&b hosted by Caroline and Miles.  Highly recommended!  The photograph was taken as we drove north from Moffatt to join the motorway, to continue our journey up to the Isle of Mull.

The image was cropped quite heavily, but I loved the way all the fences and walls converged at the central point of The Gate and because of the frost and early morning light it rendered quite a soft, pastel scene.  This will be featured, along with the other winning and shortlisted entries, in the Scottish Nature Photographer Yearbook 2020, soon to be published and will be available for sale.

The Snow Arrived! https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2020/12/the-snow-arrived Heard the forecast for this morning so gathered our gear together last night ready to venture out should the snow arrive!  And it did.  Took the 4x4 out, along with a flask and packed lunch and set off around Bredon Hill and then on up to the Cotswolds where we hoped there would be even more snow!  It was quite evident that the snow was heavier the higher we went, so we eventually got to Stumps Cross and drove along the lanes stopping here and there for photo opportunities.  Unfortunately the light was pretty flat, but nevertheless I was quite pleased with my results.

A quick detour to Tewkesbury for a takeout coffee (I know we'd got a flask but that was for emergency use!) we then parked up in an interesting gateway for our lunch, carrying on afterwards to Castlemorton Common, Malvern for more photos.  The lake at Golden Valley provided some interesting bird shots, including this one of the six geese, topically called "Six Geese A Laying" as we're still in the festive season!

I have managed to source a new wooden moulding in a soft white/ivory frame, which sets them off a treat! The exhibition is currently on until 24th October 2018 and there is some pretty good work on display. Shadow of SpringShadow of SpringThis was a multiple exposure made in the churchyard at Birlingham Church whilst the locally "famous" snowdrops were in full bloom. I have printed this on Museum Heritage Fine Art paper which has a lovely texture finish. It has recently been exhibited in Pershore's No 8 Open Arts Exhibition, 2018.
Available as an Open Edition Giclee print.

Kemerton WI 2017 Calendar https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2016/9/kemerton-wi-2017-calendar Had great fun and satisfaction from being involved with the ladies of Kemerton WI to help produce their 2017 calendar. Myself and fellow photographer, Rose Finch, never having done anything quite like this before, were a bit apprehensive beforehand, as I think were the WI ladies themselves!  It took great courage to bare all in front of two strangers but after we got the first "month"under our belt we all relaxed and a great time was had by all! The shoot was done over two separate days in June and July and proved quite a challenge at times especially when trying to replicate Christmas in June or Bonfire night in July!

The Calendar was eventually finished and printed and the launch was last night at The Crown in Kemerton.  Great coverage by BBC Hereford & Worcester, BBC Radio Gloucester, Evesham Journal and the Gloucester Echo all came and took even more photographs and interviewed us all for broadcasting this morning and for publication in the next editions.

Well done to Linda, Kim and Pam, for all their hard work (along with the rest of the ladies of the WI) in coming up with the ideas, the props, the venue and most of all the camaraderie as a result of this great experience!  It was a privilege to be involved and all proceeds from the sale of this calendar will be shared between St Richards Hospice and Guide Posts charities.

Short Break to Snowdonia https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2014/11/short-break-to-snowdonia Two days spent near Dolgellau photographing the autumn colours and waterfalls.  Spent about five hours the first day in the forest taking photos down by the river, staying until after it had gone dark to try some "painting with light".  Tripod, slow shutter speed and torches - great fun, here is one of the photos that had been "painted with light".

Autumn Colours https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2014/10/autumn-colours Went down to Batsford Arboretum last Thursday looking for some autumn colours.  Couldn't get excited with the colours, but tried a few  multiple exposures which I was quite pleased with.  Prefer to come across "natural" scenes rather than a manicured parkland so today went down to the Forest of Dean.  Tried Cannop Ponds but, again, the colours aren't stunning yet.  Went further into the forest and had some success with abstract movement shots which I enjoyed.

Bruges in September https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2014/9/bruges-in-september Just spent four days in Bruges with my daughter.  What a super city, such wonderful architecture and a lovely atmosphere.  Also spent a day visiting Mount Sorrel (Hill 62) and the preserved trenches near Ypres along with the Menin Gate and Tyne Cot Cemetery near Passendale. So glad to have had the opportunity to experience these memorials, a very moving but enjoyable day.   Lots of photographs taken during the four days, here is just one taken in Bruges itself.

Pershore Arts Trail - Pershore Plum Festival https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2014/8/pershore-arts-trail---pershore-plum-festival Looking forward to spending the next two days (Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 12noon-5pm, 23rd and 24th August) in Pershore Abbey.  Have taken a table as part of the Pershore Arts Trail to celebrate Pershore Plum Festival.  There will be fifteen other artists/photographers displaying/selling their work.  I will have a selection of mounted photographs from my "Jayne Winter Photography" range along with some from our "Images of Worcestershire" collection.  Would love to see as many people as possible.  Why not pop along and say hello!

Pembrokeshire https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2014/8/pembrokeshsire Just back from three days down in West Pembrokeshire.  Took a boat trip across to the island of Skomer where we spent five hours in the hot sun walking and photographing the puffins (who are still there amazingly as they have normally left for the Atlantic by now). A very memorable day.

Isle of Lewis holiday https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2014/5/isle-of-lewis-holiday Fabulous time being had up here on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides.  Loads of photography being done, some of the results of which will be uploaded on to the website once we are back home.  Weather much better than a previous visit about three years ago, with much lighter winds and less rain. Wonderful light and so much to photograph.  Even had two sightings of the white tailed eagle (sea eagle) over on the Aird of Uig which was really exciting. Lots of sheep, derelict crofts, seabirds, standing stones and wonderful sea and landscapes.  Off to photograph the "sheilings" shortly, between Callanish and Stornoway.

Walk in Warwickshire - Sunday 9th March https://www.jaynewinterphotography.co.uk/blog/2014/3/walk-in-warwickshire Took advantage of the glorious weather today.  Did a lovely walk from the village of Illmington up along the Cotswold ridge and back.  Had my infra-red camera with me as it is much lighter than my main camera.  Was hoping for some more sheep photos, but unfortunately the sheep were a bit thin on the ground.  Was a lovely day however and a few "winter tree" shots were taken.
